Re-Play

︎︎︎ ANIMATED LOOPS
︎︎︎ SCREENPRINTING

Re-Play is a curiosity project. The curiosity began from being enamoured by risograph animations from the likes of Danaé Gosset and Hiromu Oka. Whilst learning how to screen-print, I wondered what would happen if I did something similar, but with screen printing.

With three different loop layers, the screen printing method allowed me to play with reversals, offsets, colours, gradients, and opacities, exploring ways to push beyond the limits of riso.

Différance Dingbats

︎︎︎ CARD SET
︎︎︎ POSTER (DOUBLE-SIDED)
︎︎︎ ESSAY

How can the subconscious be utilised in design practices? This is the question I explored through the creation of the typeface Différance Dingbats, named after the concept of Différance coined by the French philosopher Jacques Derrida.

The idea emerged as an extension of my curiosity of the ever-oscillating relationship between words and images, and subconscious interpretations that generate new meanings.

Drawing from the creative games of the Surrealist art movement that aimed to promote spontaneity, Différance Dingbats provides a tool and game for our somewhat automated, subconscious minds to play.
