Re-Play: A Series of Screen Printed Loops
Re-Play is a curiosity project.
The idea for a series of screen printed loops came about when I saw crazy risograph animations from the likes of Danaé Gosset Hiromu Oka. As I was learning how to screen-print, I thought, what would happen if I did something similar, but with screen printing?
So I figured out the process: draw the frame-by-frame animation, lay each of the 24 frames out on one page, screen print in the studio (a good time to PLAY!), scan, and sequence in Photoshop.
With three different loop layers, the screen printing method allowed me to playing with reversals, offsets, colours, gradients, and opacities, exploring ways to push beyond the limits of riso.
